Windows Vista, Microsoft Outlook 2007 and Firefox 2.X – Error: ‘The system cannot find the file specified’

Maybe you like to use Firefox as your default browser but when you click onto a hyperlink in an Outlook message, you get the following error message:

To resolve this:

1.) Check if the Firefox browser is set as the default browser (Default Programs from the MS Vista start box, selected Associate a file….etc)

2.) Remove/Update the ‘Adblock plus’ and the ‘Google Toolbar for Firefox’ extensions (Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions)

3.) Remove the following Registry (REGEDIT.EXE) string value:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec

Double click on the ‘Default’ string, which should have a value of ""%1",,0,0,,,,". Delete that value and leave it blank.
